Trees are vital for our environment, our homes, yards and communities. Not only do they reduce carbon dioxide in our environment, and reduce water runoff and soil erosion, they also provide shade for our homes and gardens and bring a sense of calm and peace to our suburbs and open spaces.
But trees in our gardens don't survive as long as they do in natural settings. Most trees in forests can live for many decades, but in the built-up environment of our gardens, they may only live for around 30 years. This shorter life-span is due to the relative isolation of trees from others (contrast the lone tree in a garden to trees in a forest), and the unnatural environment. In addition, any tree care that is provided tends to be in response to a problem, rather than being constant and proactive. Providing long-term care can help trees maintain better overall health and improve their lifespan. Our arborists have a deep understanding of what trees need to thrive through the seasons and years. They can advise on the best locations, water needs, feeding and maintenance with a proactive approach to giving trees the best life they can have and, in turn, making your garden look its very best. |
There are many reasons that trees need to be removed. Sometimes the reason will be aesthetic - it will just make the garden look better. Estimates indicate that proper landscaping and tree coverage of a property can improve the value of a home by over 10 percent. Sometimes it is prudent to remove trees that are diseased or at risk of being damaged or toppled by severe weather.
Typically, we remove these trees as required by the owner, but sometimes Mother Nature decides when a tree will fall. Weather is unpredictable, and a severe storm can catch you unawares. High winds can tear off large limbs and can topple even well-established trees. Trees can also fall through disease or damage accumulated over the years. A falling tree or large branches breaking off can cause serious damage to your house or property, and even if there is no damage, the fallen branches or tree will need to be removed as soon as possible. We have special equipment to help removal of large trees and our expert team has long experience in dealing with emergency clean-ups. Our Tree Removal Services include:

Mulch is essential for healthy gardens. Not only does it look good on plant beds, but it helps retain moisture, keeps weeds down and protects the roots against temperature extremes. It also contributes to soil biology cycle as as it decomposes, helping to create healthy and fertile earth for your plants!
The type of mulch required for your garden will depend on the plants you have. For example, some plants prefer a stone mulch made of gravel or decomposed granite. Others need an organic mulch. Be wary of inorganic mulches such as rubber chips or plastic sheeting as this can destroy the soil's biology and reduce the nutrients available for your plants.. It's best to mulch in the early fall and late spring with a 2-3 inch layer of mulch, but not up against plant stems or tree trunks. Also remember to leave some areas of ground unmulched, as some of our native bees and other beneficial insects are ground burrowers. Over time, plants will produce their own mulch in the form of flower parts, decomposing bark and fallen leaves. This is the best mulch and it's best to leave it place to allow for a natural reabsorption of the nutrients back into the soil and to provide a habitat for birds and helpful insects. Part of a great garden are the hard surfaces, such as walks, walkways and driveways, that add texture and contrast to a garden as well as having a really practical function. A paver pathway can add real appeal to a house, and a stone or brick retaining wall gives plenty of character to an otherwise lackluster yard.
Research shows that hardscaping a yard can add substantial value to a house when the time comes to sell. Not only does it bring added interest to a yard, but it is low maintenance and makes enjoyment of the garden just that little bit easier. Whether you're looking for a simple path or patio around the pool, want to create some eye-catching retaining walls for a cactus or flower garden, or need a large driveway and parking area paved, we are an established paving contractor and can help! Our Hardscaping Services include: Paving Advice and Design. Pavers come in many shapes, sizes and substances. Typical pavers are flagstones or cobblestones, stamped concrete pavers, bricks, travertine and other stone shapes. Our expert designers can work with you to select the best pattern, color and stone types to bring your yard to life. There are guidelines for width of paths - such as 36 inches for a narrow path, or 48 inches to accommodate people walking side by side, but we can customize the final design to your wishes.

Can't say enough good things about this company - our old Ghost Gum tree came down close to our house and we had to deal with it urgently. We got great service - a quick response, a very reasonable estimate and the job was done in no time. Would absolutely use them again.
